Dear Colleagues,
The 13th Scientific Meeting of the Asian Australasian Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (AASSFN 2023) was successfully completed with many participants attending at the onsite venue and through the online platform. Reflecting the post-COVID-19 pandemic era, most of the participants were on-site in Osaka and actively exchanged their knowledge and experiences in person. I must express my sincere gratitude for your participation, cooperation of the many companies and organizations who lent their support, and to everyone else involved who made the meeting a great success.
Over the past several years, the COVID-19 pandemic severely limited daily, clinical, and academic activities. Although in-person interactions were unfortunately limited during that time, developments in functional neurosurgery did not halted. We are now moving into the new era after the outbreak of COVID-19. Functional neurosurgery needs to keep up with this transformation. I hope AASSFN will contribute to the development of functional neurosurgery and encourage the exchange of neurosurgeons and researchers in the Asia-Australasia region to improve functional neurosurgery in the fields of clinical practice, research, and education.
I look forward to seeing you again at the next meeting in Beijing, China.
